Summer Success: How to Succeed as a Law Firm Summer Associate
For many law students, beginning work as a summer associate can be an intimidating process. It helps to learn from someone who has been there, done that, and received the offer! Marshawn experienced a multi-week job interview as a summer associate at three different law firms, and during the thirteen week job-interview as one of Donald Trump's hand-picked candidates on NBC's hit show The Apprentice. A interview and public consultant working with lawyers, business professionals, politicians, and athletes, she is the expert on how to get an offer, and how NOT to get fired! Marshawn created Summer Success to equip law students to prepare for and maximize the summer associate experience. The Summer Success workshop is highly engaging, fun, and interactive. Through a series of different activities, students learn about networking, business etiquette, and communication skills. Successfully charting your own course as a lawyer starts as a summer associate!
Marshawn Evans was a commercial litigator at one of Atlanta's top law firms. As a law student at Georgetown University, she received offers from over 15 of the nation's most prestigious law firms. Her experiences as a juvenile criminal defense attorney, a former Miss America finalist, a communications consultant, helped her to standout among her peers. During her first year as a practicing attorney, she was able to secure a firm-sponsored fellowship with Atlanta Legal Aid where she represented indigent persons in unemployment, lease termination, and general law matters.
